Hawaii, or the Big Island, is the southernmost island in the Hawaiian archipelago, and contains the southernmost point in the United States (Ka Lae). Measured from its base at the sea floor, to its highest peak, Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain in the world, even taller than Mount Everest, according to the Guinness Book of Records. The western shore is home to the vibrant Kohala Coast offering luxury accomodations, golf, and historic landmarks of ancient Hawaiian culture. The two of the Island's volcanoes are still active and are popular tourist sites, as well as the other natural wonders that can be explored by SCUBA, hiking, and horseback riding.
